Mark 9:38-40
"And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us. But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. For he that is not against us is on our part."
My understanding comes from Blessed Theophylact's interpretation that these miracles were permitted in order spread the Lord's preaching.
ReplyDeleteMy understudying comes forms Blessed Theophylact's interpretation that the Lord wanted his preaching spread even if by the "unworthy of Divine Grace."

Fr. Charles... I actually did answer your comment, but took that particular post down. Apparently you didn't see it before that occurred. You never mentioned "waywardness", just your sorrow over my "dogmatic approach" to Holy Orthodoxy. Would you be more specific and give examples (specific articles) that illustrate your concern and how waywardness fits into the equation? It is difficult to answer such a broad statement, particularly if the opening premise is faulty.
