It's About Time!

Kudos to the Antiochian Diocese in the Oklahoma City area for actually letting people know that the Orthodox faith exists!

It reminds me of the childhood song,

This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine.

Hide it under a bushel? No!
I'm gonna let it shine
Hide it under a bushel? No!
I'm gonna let it shine
Hide it under a bushel? No!
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine.

This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine.

Don't let Satan blow it out,
I'm gonna let it shine
Don't let Satan blow it out,
I'm gonna let it shine
Don't let Satan blow it out,
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine.

This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine.

Shine all over

[name of town]

I'm gonna let it shine
Shine all over

[name of town]

I'm gonna let it shine
Shine all over

[name of town]

I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine.

This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine.

Let it shine til Jesus comes,
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine til Jesus comes,
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine til Jesus comes,
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine.

This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine.

I'd rather we worried about our daily prayer rules, but maybe they can do both. :-)

We are to make disciples of men. Not returning customers.

"Nothing": "Maybe" they can do both? Your exhortation to prayer is commendable, but to suggest that somehow evangelization is a lesser calling and is of secondary concern is not in keeping with the scripture and the command of Christ. Could it be that one of the aims of prayer is so that God may send some into the field that is already ripe with harvest? If none went to work in the field how would the harvest be brought in?

"Anon": How can we make disciples without sounding the Good News abroad?

"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not heard? And how shall they believe on him whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?"

You criticize the churches of Oklahoma for inviting the masses to come and hear how they might become disciples?

Nothing and Anon: Could yours be the same "bunker mentality" the same "let them eat cake" attitude that has resulted in the fact that there are less than 500,000 practicing Orthodox believers in all of North America, which includes a total of over 337,272,420 people?

Yes pray. Yes, don't act as the heterodox do and glory in numbers while watering down the faith. But, also don't say to these in need of salvation "be blessed, be filled", while you cloister yourself in your comfortable routine.

    FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD!

I am excited for the Church in Oklahoma City! If only we can find a way to evangelize like this in our very Baptist town. I loved the book, "Beginning to Pray," because it talks about how we must be ready and willing to put feet to our prayers and if we are praying for more to come into the Kingdom, to receive this amazing gift of Chrismation, of Theosis, then we must put feet to our prayers! If we are not praying for more to discover the True Church, then woe to us. All of these children are being led astray by false teaching and we must pray and attempt to let them know what they are missing, what joy and beauty they could experience if only they would come. Many people are not ready, but so many more are searching for what Orthodoxy has to give them. We must let them know we are here! Bravo for Oklahoma City (my birthplace) and praise God that many will be given the opportunity to find REAL worship!
